This is an opportunity to operate a retail store using the Our Island Heritage name, backed by one of the largest product development and wholesale organizations in Hawaiʻi.


About the Brand

Our Island Heritage is a division of The Madden Corporation, Hawaiʻi’s largest product development company. Since 1984, Madden has designed, manufactured, and distributed thousands of proprietary products to retailers across Hawaiʻi, the continental U.S., Europe, and Asia.

From children’s and specialty books to gifts, souvenirs, home décor, apparel, jewelry, and bath and body products, our brands are deeply rooted in island culture, storytelling, and quality craftsmanship.

As a licensee, you benefit from decades of brand equity, a proven wholesale supply chain, and a constantly evolving product catalog developed in-house.


The Opportunity

We are seeking qualified licensees to operate branded retail locations that showcase and sell Our Island Heritage products.

Licensed stores:

  • Operate under the Our Island Heritage name
  • Carry a curated selection of proprietary, island-themed products
  • Purchase inventory directly through our wholesale organization
  • Benefit from brand recognition in high-traffic tourist and destination markets

This model allows you to focus on running and growing a retail business, while product development, sourcing, and brand stewardship are handled by an experienced parent company.

Support and Partnership

Financial Structure

The licensing model includes:

  • An initial licensing and onboarding fee
  • Ongoing licensing or royalty fees
  • Inventory investment based on store size and format

This is a brand licensing opportunity, not a traditional franchise. Licensees operate independently while using the Our Island Heritage brand and purchasing proprietary products through our wholesale organization. This structure allows for flexibility while maintaining consistent brand standards.

Retail, hospitality, or destination market experience is strongly preferred, but not required in all cases. What matters most is operational discipline, attention to brand presentation, and a strong understanding of your local market.

Our Island Heritage stores perform best in tourist-driven and destination environments, such as resort areas, high-foot-traffic retail districts, visitor centers, and specialty shopping locations. Final site approval is part of the licensing process.

Initial inventory investment varies based on store size, format, and product mix. During the qualification process, we work with prospective licensees to determine an appropriate opening assortment and ongoing replenishment plan.
